Brennan dimly understood that there would be hell to pay if it came out that Hillary partisans in the U.S. government were spying on her opponent’s campaign, making use of opposition research that she had purchased. But Brennan, who was auditioning to be Hillary’s CIA director and choking on his anger at the thought of Trump as president, couldn’t help himself apparently. From April 2016 to July 2016, according to leaked stories in the British press, he assembled a multi-agency taskforce that served as the beginnings of a counterintelligence probe into the Trump campaign. During these months, he was “personally briefing” Obama on “Russian interference” — Brennan’s euphemism for spying on the Trump campaign — and was practically camped out at the White House. So in all likelihood Obama knew about and had given his blessing to Brennan’s dirt-digging.

The FBI’s liaison to Brennan was Peter Strzok, whose hatred for Trump equaled Brennan’s. But even Strzok knew that Brennan was blowing smoke about Trump-Russian collusion. Strzok would later tell his mistress that he sensed the probe would prove a crock — that “there’s no big there there.”

What’s valuable about the Corn/Isikoff account is that it inadvertently provides a picture of Brennan running an anti-Trump spying operation right out of Langley. Even after the FBI probe formally began in July 2016, Brennan was bringing CIA agents, FBI officials, and NSA officials into the same room at CIA headquarters to pool their anti-Trump hunches. To give these outrageous meetings a patina of respectability, Brennan invoked the post-9/11 rationale of interagency cooperation. Corn and Isikoff, obviously supportive of Brennan’s operation, use absurdly sanitized language to describe these meetings, but the shocking political import of them is still unmistakable: ...

Why would anyone "read more at spectator.org?"

You are always jumping in with "documentation" on some conspiracy from noted right wing sites, if I showed you an article from say "Mother Jones" that debunked everything you posted would you accept it? Would you "read more?"

What you fail to understand that all these partisan sites, left and right, are framing the facts to support the narrative they are attempting to make

    OP:
Both before and after the FBI’s official probe began in late July 2016, Brennan was bringing together into the same room at CIA headquarters a cast of Trump haters across the Obama administration whose activities he could direct — from Peter Strzok, the FBI liaison to Brennan, to the doltish Jim Clapper, Brennan’s errand boy, to an assortment of Brennan’s buddies at the Treasury Department, Justice Department, and White House
why would you not want to be informed?
Did you know about the Brennan war room? Corn/Ishakoff mentions it in passing in their book as "interagency cooperation" but when you look at the players -the are ALL hostile to Trump; including Brennan.
This was no attempt at a post 9-11 style meeting. This was a partisan war room
    AS fleshed it out.

Buld up your knowledge bass, and you can see the spin -either right or left - but never dismiss anything because of the source.

I read WAPO and NYT with a jaundiced eyes, because I know they purvey fake news -
but they are still a prime online source

It doesn't shock me. They are into overreach, overkill, beyond limits of the Constitution, unlimited range of investigations not just Mullet, but also by any and all inferior little assistant U.S. Attorney mullets he cares to appoint, etc. in every facet of this swampy mess begun by Clinton, Brennan, Clapper, Mullet and Comey.

They made themselves into an active branch of power, instead of serving the executive branch's legit intelligence needs

And after all......they needed all those spies/informants because they were only trying to PROTECT Trump.

What do think of a 2nd Special Counsel?

I hate SC's.. we need an SC..

    Seriously the only REAL TIME an SC is called for is when DoJ is so conflicted;
it can't be trusted to investigate itself..like now.

But Rosenweasel is slik shit -within hours of Trumps Tweet he glommed onto expanding the existing IG's
( with Huber) mandate to look for spies..Meaning it gets dragged out at minimum

The Weasels at DoJ and Nunes and Kelly are supposed to meet Thurs to "discuss" docs release.
Like we haven't had enough discussions??? *show us the money* already..

Exactly...unfortunate, but NOW is when a SC is specifically needed.

And, I'm sure Nunes et al are sick of these "discussions" as well...stalling is more like it.

Speaking of money (off topic)...you doing Red Nose?

Good point on the irony: now that there’s a *legitimate* time to appoint an SC we can’t get one.

The thing of it is, even with an SC you might not see indictments until after the midterms. But with Huber in the mix, another SC may not be necessary and even redundant. They may even get in each other’s way.

Huber can do everything an SC can do—it’s just not as sexy as an SC appointment.

Huber is remote.Huber has to wait on IG referrals or issue subpoenas after IG looks for them
IG cannot get ex-FBI/CIA to testify..
