    Default Replacing Saddam with butchers.

'They deserve no mercy': Iraq deals briskly with accused 'women of Isis'

A Baghdad court has sentenced more than 40 foreign women to death after 10-minute hearings

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-women-of-isis

Worse than Saddam ? Sure- but no threat to ' Israel', and that's the important thing.

I'm guessing none were Iranian and none were Shia?

It's amazing how America spent all that Blood and Treasure just to hand over Iraq to Iran. Any word on when they start erecting statues in Tehran of Bush and the GOP Brain-trust?

It's our Iraqi puppets who are doing the butchering- not the Iranians.

But this is why I'm not all that worried about Iranian nukes; at least not compared to their regional hegemony

According to that 'moon' dude (see above), Muqtarde (or whatever his name is) is another one of our puppets.
Which leads me to my next observation: The word 'lunacy' is derived from the word 'luna' (meaning 'moon').
Which if you can assemble all the pieces of the puzzle, ... brings clarity.

    Yes.
Iraq is now a client state of Iran.

In the big Sunni-Shia religious confrontation, the Kurds look like the only ones we should be supporting.

Kurds are useful tools, but will never get a state ( even though they deserve one).

FDR started the Special Relationship with KSA; it's paid off well over the years for both -
especially now with bin Salman's reforms. stick with the Sunnis and try to marginalize the salafi jihadi.

This is Trump's geopolitics as well

Crown Prince Salman may be a 'Reformer' or might be blowing smoke up everybody's ass. Either way, he and KSA aren't threatened by the Kurds. The Kurds are the largest ethnic group in the world not to have a Homeland. But, I agree, their prospect of a Kurd State in slim. I think the general consensus would be an autonomous region in they particular country. The 'Northern Kurds' in Turkey have zero chance, as the 'Eastern Kurds' in Iran have no chance. The 'Southern Kurds' in Iraq have been successful. The 'Western Kurds' in Syria have a chance if we don't abandon them. In my opinion, we should support the Northern Federation and make a stand at the Euphrates with them. Your "Kurds are useful tools" may be the Administrations (as past Administrations have been) final policy.

Interesting that Israel is the only close country that supports the Kurds. I think it's because even though the Kurds are Sunni, they are tolerant of other ethnic and other religious groups. More 'Western'.

    from wiki:
"The Democratic Federation of Northern Syria (DFNS), commonly known as Rojava, is a de facto autonomous region in northern Syria. It consists of three self-governing regions:[6] Afrin Region, Jazira Region, and Euphrates Region.[7] The region gained its de facto autonomy in 2012[8] as part of the ongoing Rojava conflict and the wider Syrian Civil War.

Northern Syria is polyethnic and home to sizeable ethnic Kurdish, Arab, Syriac-Assyrian, and Turkmen populations; with smaller communities of ethnic Armenians, Circassians, and Chechens.[9][10] Parts of northeastern Syria are regarded by Kurdish nationalists as Western Kurdistan (Kurdish: Rojavayê Kurdistanê‎),[11] one of the four parts of Greater Kurdistan.[12] Much of Northern Syria is also considered by Syriac-Assyrians as Gozarto (meaning Upper Mesopotamia), part of the historical Syriac-Assyrian homeland.

The supporters of the region argue that it is an officially secular polity[13][14] based on the democratic confederalist principles of democratic socialism, gender equality, and sustainability, and that the diversity of Northern Syria is mirrored in its constitution, society, and politics.[15][3][16][6][17]

While entertaining some foreign relations, the regions within the DFNS are not officially recognized as autonomous by the government of Syria or any international state or organization.[18][19] For their part, supporters of its constitution consider their system a model for a federalized Syria as a whole, rather than independence.[20]"
