Private citizens are perfectly able of doing a better job without "apprenticing".

So you do not have kids, and you have no experience raising kids, right?

My personal info is not relevant to the argument, Bully.

There is a down side to everything. One of the downsides to getting your MBA online, you don't make the contacts.

    Indeed.

The value of my college education is not just the sheepskin they handed me at the end.

Getting a college degree on a lap top is not even remotely in the same league as the collective college experience. The life long social and professional contacts I made, the letters of recommendations and support from professors who knew me intimately, the social life, the rich cultural experiences...and last, but certainly not least, all the beautiful lasses I met on and around campus!

A laptop screen simply cannot bestow this depth and breadth of experience.

At least you had a choice in that decision. I'm guessing the tradeoffs were worth it.

If all school classes are viewable online, ... it allows us to see exactly what these teachers are doing. No more shenanigans.

There are thousands of classes on line right now. You have to have the access codes to see them. You know, I taught at a huge state University and a small private university for years. There were a few open liberals and a few open conservatives, but mainly people there to learn and teach and explore thoughts. I have never once seen any of the craziness the RWNM attempts to make seem like it is commonplace. Another big advantage is transportation costs. Them busses aint free.

People meet on the internet nowadays. Times are changing. It's a brave new world.

    Yep, a plethora of pros.

That's why I'm really interested in hearing the Cons like several posters have provided.

Sorry, people who obviously don't have kids, don't have any experience raising kids, and obviously have never even been to college do not have any standing to lecture us on the proper way to have kids get a high school or college education.

My eldest did this for one year in HS, not as awesome as some would think and she felt isolated. While this can and does work well for some, it is not a one size fits all solution that will replace brick and mortar schools easily.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

I'm sure it was a huge change for her.

I'm suggesting one national online program ... as a choice available to those who want it. And see where it goes from there.

Education is not a power the Federal government has, nor should it.
