My GF worked in retail. Many of the part timers quit when offered more hours because it would disqualify them from receiving government benefits. The few who stayed refused the longer hours.

It's not the fault of the business that the leeches rely on honorable people having their wages taken. It's their fault for not offering skills that warrant higher pay. If it was the fault of the businesses because they paid so low, everyone that worked at Amazon in Ohio would be on food stamps. Do you know the difference between those that work there while receiving food stamps and those that work while not receiving food stamps? When you figure out the answer, you'll realize your argument that it's the fault of the business is invalid.
