Default "Tillerson warns of ethical crisis among U.S. leaders in speech"

"Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday appeared to offer an implicit rebuke of his old boss, as he warned of a "growing crisis in ethics and integrity" during a commencement address at the Virginia Military Institute.'

“As I reflect upon the state of our American democracy, I observe a growing crisis in ethics and integrity,” Tillerson told the graduates. “If we do not as Americans confront the crisis of ethics and integrity in our society and among our leaders then American democracy, as we know it, is entering its twilight years.”

Ouch, taking one from his own teammate

America started with a President who could not tell a lie, and currently is stuck with a President who seemingly can not tell the truth

I think that can apply to many of our leaders.

    Yeah...like Abraham Lincoln...or Colin Powell...or Frances Perkins.

Jesus H. Christ, Aloy...who do you think Tillerson was aiming those remarks at? Make a wild guess.

In a general sense, true, but I don't think anyone is going out on a limb here suggesting that he is talking about that leader he is most familiar with based upon personal experience

Agreed. Trump does seem to burn bridges in his relationships.

Jesus H. Christ, Frank. Did I say all leaders past and present?
But there seems to be a lot of lying going around lately by lots of them and very few are immune.

Pretending that Tillerson's remarks were directed specifically at Trump is what one could expect from Politico readers. Perhaps you should have pasted in this portion of the article.

"The ex-diplomat — who did not mention President Donald Trump by name — also delivered a pointed commentary on the importance of truth in political discourse, and insisted that “a common set of facts” was essential to maintaining a free society."

Oh...that would have changed things a whole lot.

What is it with the Trump supporters? Is there no personal dignity or self-respect left in any of them?

If our leaders seek to conceal the truth, or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom,” Tillerson said. “A responsibility of every American citizen to each other is to preserve and protect our freedom by recognizing what truth is and is not, what a fact is and is not, and begin by holding ourselves accountable to truthfulness, and demand our pursuit of America's future be fact-based.”
sounds like the Dems or more specifically the Deep State to me. It could be about anyone
