Detroit has skyrocketing prices in downtown driving long time residents out. Lots of restaurants and businesses started up. If it is happening in D, it is happening everywhere.

It's a little longer for me to some of those things and I'm OK with that. I don't have to be around dining venues, populations diverse of not, academia, etc. to have a good time. It puts me closer to things on the tail end of your list and I'm perfectly fine with that.

This very much depends on the city. Cities like Houston or Dallas are sprawling out to the suburbs to because there's lots of vacant land. Cities like Seattle are going up instead of out because the geography constricts thingsToo Much

I hear you. One of my favorite past times is floating down Darby Creek (a local scenic river) in my kayak and not being to overly concerned about catching any fish or not. Never had a bad day doing that. My old man used to say "Boredom is a state of mind." and Pops was spot on right about that.

We work together on things. You let your bitch carry your balls around in her purse.

Meh you just have to learn how to strike that balance between male dominance and not getting burned alive in your bed while sleeping. So be a manly man. Your woman will appreciate it...but don't push that to far....you gotta sleep sometime and women are far more evil than you could possibly hope to be.

Cawacky seem to think that the city is the only place where the action is. If you're bored, the problem isn't where you are but who and what you are. I don't have to be around lots of people, bright lights, and some event going on to be entertained. If Cawacky does, that's OK and it's not wrong if I and others don't.

He CHOOSES to live there then complains about the costs of doing so.

My wife and I make decisions together. I've agreed to things that weren't my first choice and so has she but neither one of us have the attitude that in order to have a happy life we have to always give in to the other.

LOL, it's simple economics. I'm not spending $400K to send my daughter to school in SF. Knock yourself out if that's for you.
