And as I said there is no proof of causation between declining gun deaths and rising gun ownership, there are numerous variable that explain it better, for example the mere fact the population is getting older, yesterday's wannabe gangsters are now grandfathers

You're not making sense, first blaming guns, then crediting the fact that "yesterday's wannabe gangsters are now grandfathers". It is the people, not the guns, that are responsible for gun deaths. My comparison to the number of people and guns out there makes perfect sense. If guns were the cause of the problem, as you insist they must be, then we should be seeing many times the number of gun deaths that we actually see. Your "preventable" is just the same sort of wishful thinking that gave us the disaster of Prohibition and the disaster of the War on Drugs.

No, the majority of mass shootings take place in private homes and are a result of domestic violence, and are only a fraction of total gun murders. The majority of gun murders take place in inner cities, and are often gang-related.

You appear to be willfully ignorant. No matter where you are, if you purchase from an FFL, you are required to pass the background check. And if you purchase from a private individual, there's no way to enforce anything. Even the background check won't stop someone if there's nothing about them in the system.
