the Bible is a better authority on Jesus than either.......the claim that people who deny this existence of God but do good things can attain salvation is directly contrary to the word of God.......this may be the best example of why there should be no popes since the guy who started the Crusades.......

This is what he said. I don't know how anybody who calls themselves Christian can criticize it.

The faith we proclaim tonight makes us see God present in all those situations where we think he is absent. He is present in the unwelcomed visitor, often unrecognizable, who walks through our cities and our neighbourhoods, who travels on our buses and knocks on our doors."

Do you ever get the impression that a lot of bible thumpers and evangelicals actually don't know that much about religion? I do.

Because I have met plenty of evangelical bible thumpers who don't know that Catholics are Christians. Don't know that Muslims revere Jesus and believe in the same God. Don't know much at all about the history of Christianity. And aren't even really that curious to find out.

Actually, no he isn't. the Bible itself says that except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). The pope's ex-cathedra messages have no bearing on the Word of God.
