Half the people in America smoke dope. Time to accept it. We need to save the cost of interdiction, arresting tokers and suppliers. We need to save the cost of running them through the court system and jailing them. So many lives ruined . We can even collect taxes . We can also strike a blow against cartels that sell it to America. We will also slash gang turf wars. It makes so much sense.

Perhaps, but Corporatist Chuckie only pretends this type of thing when he know's it will go nowhere, as opposed to when he could git-r-done. Phoney. And our corpoate for profit prison industry and predatory pharma industry will fight it tooth-n-nail.

But I'm sure many states will keep it illegal.

It depends on how the law is written. They could decriminalize (eliminate) all marijuana laws allowing people to grow and use not subject to government regulation or taxation; or, they could just decriminalize under a certain amount.

I think Schumer wants to do it. It all depends on how many more can be persuaded to vote for it. I doubt any Repubs.

If it becomes legal by Federal law, a state cannot do anything other than support it.

"President Donald Trump promised Republican Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado he would support efforts to protect states that have legalized marijuana, ending a standoff on Department of Justice nominations.

"Since the campaign, President Trump has consistently supported states' rights to decide for themselves how best to approach marijuana," Gardner said in a statement. "Late Wednesday, I received a commitment from the President that the Department of Justice's rescission of the Cole memo will not impact Colorado's legal marijuana industry."

And Alaska was the very first State to decriminalize mj.

And at a federal level, the Democrats have done nada, zip, zilcho.

Even though they controlled congress from '52 to '94, they did not submit a single pro MJ bill for a vote.

That only means federal authorities will not enforce prohibition but states can continue to do so. Currently, it is legal in some states but against federal law. That is the "dual sovereignty" of American federalism. There will be nothing for states to support--they are not expected to enforce federal laws (immigration).

Probably because they knew it had no chance of passing. Most Democrats would not even vote for it. It would probably have more support today, but not a majority.

Conservative, small gov't Libertarians have been the only party that has been sincere about Federal decriminalization.

Don't even attempt to compare 1994 with today, let alone the 80's or the 70's. A majority of Americans favor legalization, today!

How about if I compare today to 1930's America before that Socialist Democrat pig, FDR, made MJ illegal? Would that be ok with you, little miss dictator?

And nobody believed BJ didn't "inhale"
