In the case of a 100% incapacitated person, if a doctor deems it necessary for the health, safety and well being of the patient, a court order can be obtained. You are a fucking retard if you think they would allow an incapacitated elderly person to live in a situation in which adequate care cannot be given and it puts the person at risk.

It is very feasible for adequate care to be delivered at home. This is nothing new in healthcare. Many people spend their final days at home. The chances or a a physician obtaining a court order mandating a patient be put in a nursing home is remote. Are you saying that you were under threat of a court order?

Plus, it would open one up to charges of abuse and neglect.

And, as I indicated earlier, just to get over to where my mom lived, I had to drive 100 miles round trip. Plus I had to work at my job and maintain my own house. How would I have been able to care for someone who needed 24/7 assistance?

Who said anything about you traveling 100 miles. I am saying the you should have had your mother moved to your house like many have done in the past. Like I did with my parents. If she was 94 and on her final days, you could have taken FMLA to care for her 24/7.

As far being able to afford a home health care assistant, they get paid $20 per hour times 24 hours a day x 7 days a week which = $14,500 a month. Having an RN stop by to administer the narcotic pain and and anti-depression medication she was on, would have cost a bundle more.

There was probably zero need for your mother to have 24 hour a day care so your math is skewed to. There are plenty of ways to deliver narcotics without a nurse. People do it at home all the time. It is called a PCA, or she could be given a fentanyl patch, or she could have been given morphine liquid. It does not require administration by an RN. I don't know where you got that story from but you are 100% wrong
