I had a great deal of admiration and respect for Barbara Bush, but there is no denying that she was one of the lucky elite in that her family has not only wealth, but govt paid medical benefits that most people do not, thanks to the policies of the Republican Party she belongs to.

She received the best nursing care money can buy and most importantly, it was in the comfort and familiar surroundings of her own home at little or no cost to her or the Bush family, even though they could easily afford it.

Most people in her condition, like my own mother, get put into cold, institutional nursing homes, being tended to by strangers, and where they are required by law to burn through their modest life savings before they can qualify for Medicaid. And even then, they have to relinquish their Social Security check to the govt.

Republicans always take advantage of the free govt handouts they hate so badly for regular folks, don't they?

You are going to double down on your lie. Let's make something perfectly clear. A doctor's order is not a legally binding decision. Doctors orders are ignored by people all the time. Just because he "ordered" rehab doesn't mean you have to do it. Your mother could have declined. If she had advanced directives, there would be nothing a physician could do.

Additionally, even if she needed 24/7 care, it didn't necessarily have to be a nurse.

As for your claim that the medications she was on being only administered by a state licensed RN is a fucking lie. There is no such medication that is limited by law to be administered by a state licensed RN. But, even if your lie were true, that still wouldn't necessitate a stay in a nursing home. The medication could have been administered by a nurse via home healthcare.

The reality is that you didn't want the extra work or responsibility of caring for your mother. I suspect that you lashing out at me is recognition of that fact and the underlying guilt you feel over being a failure as a child.

In the case of a 100% incapacitated person, if a doctor deems it necessary for the health, safety and well being of the patient, a court order can be obtained. You are a fucking retard if you think they would allow an incapacitated elderly person to live in a situation in which adequate care cannot be given and it puts the person at risk.

Plus, it would open one up to charges of abuse and neglect.

And, as I indicated earlier, just to get over to where my mom lived, I had to drive 100 miles round trip. Plus I had to work at my job and maintain my own house. How would I have been able to care for someone who needed 24/7 assistance?

As far being able to afford a home health care assistant, they get paid $20 per hour times 24 hours a day x 7 days a week which = $14,500 a month. Having an RN stop by to administer the narcotic pain and and anti-depression medication she was on, would have cost a bundle more.

Could you afford to pay that kind of money? No, you couldn't and you wouldn't so stop your idiotic preaching at me about something you know nothing about, goober.
