This year’s total US allocation of weapons to Israel could fund instead one of the following:All across the country, cities and states are having trouble finding funds to meet the pressing needs of our communities. In Oklahoma, budget cuts have forced 20 percent of schools to adopt a shortened week. In Minnesota, 200,000 children are food insecure. And in New York City, 150 free school health clinics serving uninsured children may close due to a funding loss.
Yet Oklahomans give $35 million each year in weapons to Israel, money which could fund 431 teacher positions. Minnesotans give $69 million each year in weapons to Israel, money which could feed 45,572 hungry children. And New Yorkers give $145 million each year in weapons to Israel, money which could provide healthcare to 61,157 uninsured children.
These are just a few of the shocking budgetary trade-offs we discovered while building militaryaidtoisrael.org, https://uscpr.org/campaign/governmen...aid-to-israel/ an important new resource we’re launching today on Tax Day
The new interactive map tells you how much money people in your state, Congressional district, county, and city give each year for weapons to Israel – and what community needs that money could be funding instead.
It’s bad enough that we give taxpayer dollars for weapons to Israel when urgent community needs are going unmet. It’s even worse that Israel then uses these US weapons to commit atrocities against Palestinians who are denied freedom, justice, and equality under its apartheid regime, as is being demonstrated yet again by Israel’s shooting of Palestinian protesters participating in the Great Return March in Gaza.
Thank you for continuing to stand with Palestinian rights and helping us educate folks in the US about the price being paid for US military support for Israel.

It's outrageous. It's time that Americans had an active role in where their taxes are spent. This is 2018 and IT makes this possible. It's already necessary.

There are an estimated 45,000 homeless people living in Louisiana.
Louisiana gives nearly 45 million dollars a year for ' Israel's ' weapons.
Much of this absurd gift goes towards making people homeless in Palestine.

Why does Israel need our billions? Now they even develop and build their own military weapons. 2017 was the first year we were allowed a base in their country. It seems there is no valid reason to give them billions we could use for ourselves, if we quit giving them assistance will they end their alliance with us, I think not.

I honestly just don't know enough on this issue to really get into the weeds and offer a detailed response. But if you told me that the value we get from the money we give to Israel is worth it, and that's why we give it, I would believe it.
I get that within a certain subset of the American left that support for Israel is anathema. I grew up in Oakland and going to hang out on the Cal Berkeley campus during high school was a big thing. Anyone who has visited probably knows Blondie's Pizza where they wear the Make Pizza Not War shirts. Across the street was always a guy on the sidewalk selling pins and bumper stickers and most of the merchandise was pro-Palestinian. I didn't fully understand what it all meant at the time but in retrospect I do.
Israel is of no strategic importance to the US... NONE..
Israel is a spoiler for all our Arab allies in the region..
Why should a population of 6 million get annual foreign and military aid of 5 billion dollars a year? Compare them to Haiti which has a larger population.
