Default FACEBOOK DEATH MEMO - “Maybe it costs a life” - profits over human life

"Facebook executive defended the company's questionable data mining practices and championed the growth of social media at any cost — apparently even death.

“Maybe it costs a life by exposing someone to bullies,” company vice president Andrew Bosworth wrote in the memo, according to BuzzFeed News, which published the full memo Thursday. “Maybe someone dies in a terrorist attack coordinated on our tools. And still we connect people. The ugly truth is that we believe in connecting people so deeply that anything that allows us to connect more people more often is *de facto* good.”

Socialism is just the modern word for monarchy.

D.C. has become a Guild System with an hierarchy and line of accession much like the Royal Court or priestly classes.

Private citizens are perfectly able of doing a better job without "apprenticing".

This is America. We accept that corporations have one goal, increase profits. There is nothing about doing no harm, doing it legally or not polluting the environment. We are in a constant war with corporations because of that. That is also why wealthy and corporations hate regulation. Regulations are for the benefit of the people. We need more especially in tech.

The profit motive, while a powerful driving force, is only half the story. The other half is ensuring that corporations behave responsibly. Without that we would have the unrestrained capitalism of the Industrial Revolution, red in tooth and claw.

Unfortunately nobody has thought of a way of doing this except by state regulation.

So you believe corporations should behave morally?

Despite the Death Memo ... and privacy breaches ... Zucky is still their darling little progressive.

"Connecting people" is exploiting your emotions to achieve product loyalty so you become a captive audience to their ad service.
