I think it is time we just had a national divorce and split up the proceeds.

It is clear that there are just too many divisions for our country to "get along" as we differ on too many issues

Whether it is free speech, guns, abortion, taxation, illegal immigration. You name it the divisions are too great. I fear we are heading for an imminent Civil War.

Why not just get a divorce now and divide up the spoils?

I've wondered the same recently. "irreconcilable differences". We'd probably get along better if we were two separate countries.

It only makes sense. They can have all of the illegal aliens, women, blacks, hispanics and muslims etc. You know their core voters.

There'd be no such thing as illegal aliens in their country with open borders to all. It would be an interesting experiment, though. One country with no legal guns, open borders, free medical care for the majority that didn't work or pay taxes.
I still believe we'd get along better as would a couple with an amicable divorce.

Good question. I thought about that too. We could just give California to Mexico, I'm sure they'd be happy with that. Maybe make eastern NY and MA a separate country and they could join the EU and adopt the Euro.

That is what would be the tough part. Dividing up the land. For obvious reasons you would give them all blue states but then they would not be contiguous.

California was easy. Let Mexico have them. Californians would be more than happy to support their brethren, after all they're the third largest economy in the universe.

Invaded? Just let them incorporate into Canada. Much of New England and Minnesota borders them anyway. I think they'd rather be part of the EU, though. Minnesota could be incorporated into Canada.
