I think it is very possible that Mueller will not find any direct criminal wrongdoing by Trump. His associates, yes obviously. Trump, perhaps not. Ever since Reagan-Iran Contra underlings have been very cognizant of providing their bosses plausible deniability. Treason is almost impossible to prove criminally.
Colluding with the Russians, getting peed on by Russian prostitutes, and dubious financial ties with Russian oligarchs may step over the threshold of ethical violations of the public trust. But Mueller is not investigating ethics.
I think there are political and ethical questions here that are just as important, if not more so, than the criminal question. Why was the Kremlin so keen on having Dump win?
Why did Trump spend so much effort denying the Kremlin was trying to undermine American democracy?
Why did Trump beg the Kremlin to hack his opponent - a fellow American from a different political party?
Why was Dump's son in law meeting with Russian operatives to dig up dirt on Clinton?
These actions may all be at the blurry boundary between unethical behavior, and criminal acts. But Mueller is strictly charged with looking into violations of federal law.

Quote from that article:
"Indeed, the facts known to the public point toward illegal collusion among top Obama administration officials who apparently aimed to stop Donald Trump from becoming president, or hobble him if he won."
That's because the FBI started a Russian collusion investigation in July 2016 when warnings were coming in from half a dozen friendly intel agencies about "suspicious interactions" between the Trump campaign and Russian agents.
They should just have ignored it, right?

The OP writer is correct on several points but he’s naive if he thinks Mueller is anything but a Swamp creature that’s ‘investigating the person and not the crime’ in order to thwart the results of a democrat election.
Let that thought sink in.
That said, Mueller will likely be *forced* to clear Trump on Collusion—even Mueller can’t manufacture evidence out of whole cloth. Also, Mueller’s investigation will very likely be affected by the IG report which is supposed to come out this month. If the FISA warrant against Carter Page was obtained illegally, then the whole impetus for starting the Trump/Russia investigation gets called into question.
This thing is far from over.

I agree. The chances that Mueller will be able to draw a direct and irrefutable connection between Trump and the Kremlin are probably pretty slim.
I think Trump's real peril lies in obstruction and possible financial crimes like tax evasion, money laundering, bribery, etc.
When the final report comes out, it will likely be, at the very least, highly embarrassing for Trump, his supporters and the GOP.
But then, given how shameless these people have become, they'll just brush it off as the equivalent of a parking ticket and go right on being their lowlife, gutter trash selves.
C'MON MAN!!!!

Part of the garbage I spew is that Impeachment is a political process.
If democrats are counting on voters conveniently forgetting that the investigation *began* on the premise that Trump colluded with Russians to turn the election—they will do it at their own political peril.
Recall that Clinton’s numbers went up after House Republicans went to impeach him.
Proving collusion is important to Mueller’s witch hunt whether you want to believe it or not.
