Default ANOTHER Phony "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Christian

    What a TOTAL Shock!

Evangelicals scrambling as retired Chicago pastor accused of decades of sexual misconduct

The recently retired pastor of a Chicago megachurch stands accused of many episodes of sexual misconduct going back years, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The allegations against Rev. Bill Hybels cover decades and include unwanted kissing, an affair with a married woman and inviting women in his congregation into his hotel room while traveling.

The report has sent the moderate evangelical world into a tizzy—Hybels and his wife are now reportedly estranged from their closest alliesincluding the famous pastors John and Nancy Ortberg.

Hybels led a congregation of 25,000 and the Willow Creek Association, based on his leadership, counts 11,000 churches worldwide as under its influence. He abruptly retired last year.

Hybels emerged as a “cool” youth pastor riding a Harley-Davidson and quickly grew his flock. Unlike many other non-denominational megachurches, Willow Creek elevated women to senior positions—but that allowed the former pastor to prey on ambitious young women, according to Nancy Beach, who came out of Willow Creek and is now a prominent evangelical thought leader.

“I feel so conflicted about the whole situation because I’m so protective of the reputation of the church, not just here but globally,” she told the Tribune. “But I have confidence that the truth matters. Even though he’s 66 years old, there are still young women in his path. I certainly wouldn’t want one of my daughters or anyone else to be in this kind of situation.. He changed my life. I wouldn’t have the opportunities I’ve had… But then there’s this other side.”

Another woman, Vonda Dyer, the former director of the church’s vocal ministry and whose husband also worked there, told the tribune a story about Hybels kissing her on a trip in 1998. She said he should confess and ask for forgiveness.

“I would love for him to experience that kind of redemption,” she said.

    Hybels is not apologizing, though.

“This has been a calculated and continual attack on our elders and on me for four long years,” he told the Tribune. “I have a wife and kids and grandkids. My family has had enough and they want the record clear. And they feel strongly supportive of me saying what I have to say to protect my family and clear my family’s name as well.”

Have you refuted the facts stated in the article?

    You haven't?

Well then, your response is just attempt at diverting the thread.

Havana Moon is nothing if not predictable.

It is no wonder. People who gravitate toward religion...especially strict moral religion tend to people that need a reason to not be bad people. So they believe in an all powerful deity that damn them to eternal flames if they are bad. The problem is that humans are fallible. We will falter. Then everyone can look with righteous indignation and state how superior they are to men and women of belief and how free they are of the hypocrisy. The problem is that those same people also falter. I do not abuse women, cheat on my wife, beat people up, rape, pillage and murder because I think I am going to burn in hell. I don't do those things because I don't want to do them. That said I want people who would otherwise rape, pillage and murder to believe in a God that will damn them to hell if they do those things. Likewise just because one of those people falters doesn't mean I should enjoy it. That is in itself immoral. I feel sorry for them. I pity them. I may even be angry with them but will never enjoy their downfall.

Another misbehavin' "Christian" story from this guy......he's obsessed with hypocrites. LOL
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

When Harvey Weinstein does it...the GOP goes bonkers.

When the pastor of one of the USA's Mega Churches does it...he gets a standing O!

    GOP hypocrisy knows no bounds!

That's because he is a hypocrite.
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

I am sure they get some stories right, but it is undeniable that there is invariably a leftish spin. So carry on using them but don't dare complain about Brietbart, unless you relish being called a hypocrite.

And you can corroborate that claim, right?

    What's that?

    You CAN'T?

Why am I not surprised...once again we can see that GOP hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Why do you only post bad stories about Christians, who not Muslims or Hindus? Here is a recent story from India, what do you have to say about this poor woman?
