A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

STY, I read Chicago has 50 Alderman who represent the 50 wards in the City. Is that correct? I saw 48 were Democrats, 1 Republican and 1 independent.

I also read Illinois had the sixth fewest registered Republicans of any state, and was the only one not on a coast.

    No myth there at all.

The south has always been a stronghold of American conservatives.

It was almost solid Democrat...until LBJ passed and signed the Equal Rights Act.

If you think that is a myth...you must think it a myth that Abraham Lincoln was once president of the United States.

Take a look at the political party make-up of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina...before the Civil Rights Act...

...and take a look at it now.

    Wake the hell up, Boy.

It is one thing to do this restructuring when attempting to make excuses for the abomination in the Oval Office...

...but when you revise history...that is a step too far.

I pay very little attention to chicago politics, mainly because I absolutely despise the place. the only good thing about that place is the pizza. when I left Illinois in 95, i think there were 2 republican alderman in chicago who never voted against a democrat agenda.

3/4ths of the states population is in chicago/surrounding areas. The other 25% are rural/small town/farming types that mostly benefit from the subsidies that democrats throw out there for them. Its why republicans out there are democrat lite, wanting to keep the small town votes.

I have deviated from discussing the thread topic due to the fact another dim bulb JPP Trumpkin just can't seem to stay on topic.
What kind of country have we become?

One in which federal prosecutors can take “evidence” before a “grand jury,”

and that grand jury can “vote to indict” a former president for 91 alleged “crimes”?

In 1968 Thurmond was at the Republican national convention because he was facing huge conflict with Dems who were pushing for Civil rights. He helped the party that thought like him and agreed with his beliefs. Thurmond was in conflict withe the Dems for a decade. The party of Nixon was a perfect fit.

You might actually be right for once. Nixon did an awesome job for civil rights: https://www.nixonfoundation.org/2017...ivil-rights-2/
