Quick work by the National Oil Company (NOC) was able to repair a valve in little more than 24 hours that a local landowner had tampered with, resulting in the loss of nearly 340,000 barrels of oil.

Libya, a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has struggled to boost oil production amid the lingering effects of civil strife that erupted earlier in the decade. Output has risen from 370,000 barrels a day two years ago, though it remains well below the 1.8 million barrels a day Libya pumped before the ouster and killing of former leader Muammar Qaddafi. Major oil fields including Sharara and El-Feel (or Elephant Field) have experienced sporadic disruptions before, occasionally setting back the revival.

Pipeline sabotage is to be expected... just like in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

Libyan production was humming along at about 1.3 million bpd until the civil war.

They closed 2 months before NATO got involved. The oil business hates a war zone. All seven (or was it 12 including the minors) pulled their people out by mid March.

Esso Libya is now Sirte Oil company since I was there.

It seems to me that production has been up to 700,000 bpd and down again.. Eastern Libya is still pretty dangerous.. competing militias and all that.

Almost everyone was on board. Me too. When Colin Powell is pointing to sites and we send all our army in wearing masks, the misbelief was probably earnest

Being FBI he should have been able to discern between truth and fiction.

Was the passing on of lies in his remit ? He was hardly focussed solely on domestic affairs, was he. The video shows him all over Saddam's ' intentions '.

Reminder: Robert Mueller lied about Iraq’s non-existent WMDs
    Not all falsehoods are lies.

If it is false, it must be known to be false to the one issuing the statement, at the time the statement is made.
Here's an example of an out and out lie:
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt, that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
U.S. President Bush (the younger) televised address to the U.S. March 17th, 2003
That's an outright lie. A falsehood cannot POSSIBLY be a certitude.

    Bush lied.
    Thousands died!

    Have a nice day.

No empathy and no understanding. He demands personal loyalty and not loyalty to the nation. His only core belief is in his own superiority to everyone else. His only want is exercise more and more personal power." smb / purveyor of fact 18/03/18

The British really pushed for the invasion of Iraq.. They had Operation Mass Appeal up and running by 1999 or 2000.. Plumbly and Dearlove headed it up to sell the war to the Brits and everyone else.

    The intelligence was poorly forged.

A lot of people were "wrong" about WMD's. What matters is what was willful.

Colin Powell's aide said he was given a "Chinese menu" of intel & told to make the case for war. British intelligence said that we were "fixing the intel around the policy." And on & on.

The big "lie" about WMD's was the way that intel was cherrypicked and framed for public consumption. We didn't have a leader who bent over backwards to try to avoid sending soldiers into harm's way. We had a leader who did the opposite, and rushed headlong into an unnecessary 10-year war that cost us dearly in lives and treasure.
