Lightbulb OUCH: Mark Zuckerberg just lost $9 billion in wealth

Mark Zuckerberg's wealth has tumbled by more than $9 billion over the past 48 hours.
This weekend, the Facebook founder was the fourth richest man in the world. Now, he will be sixth or seventh.
His wealth loss over the past two days is greater than the entire net worths of all but 170 of the world's more than 1,000 billionaires.

Mark Zuckerberg's wealth status has changed — he's lost more than $9 billion in stock wealth over the past 48 hours.

Zuckerberg, who owns a little over 400 million shares of Facebook, has seen his wealth drop to around $66 billion from $75 billion since the stock opened on Monday morning, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index and Forbes. This weekend, he was the fourth richest man in the world. Now, he will be sixth or seventh.

Of course, losing $9 billion here and there are the least of Zuckerberg's worries, with Facebook under attack for the improper sharing of member data. But the loss shows just how costly the scandal has become for Facebook and its founder. Not to mention its millions of other shareholders.

But looks at the bright side, he had 9 Billion to loose in the first place

    so what?

I am not related to him and I don't use Facebook

We don't need regulations on Facebook. We need people to know what is going on and they can change their own personal habits and choose to use or not use Facebook. It isn't complicated.

If I was him, I would have sold ages ago. So few things on the internet are permanent - Myspace was huge, then disappeared.

He still has an endless supply of money, though.

I started a FB and a linkedin and deleted them shortly thereafter. Apparently there's all kinds of people out there googling my name and had people I didn't even particularly care for from 30+ yrs. ago suddenly wanting to be my BFF or colleague or whatever.
Anybody that knows where I live can google me, get my business website and call the office if they want to find out what I'm up to.

It's a catch 22 situation. What message would he be sending investors if he unloads large portions of his stock? Not to mention the opportunity cost for that guy...
