There are ALREADY restrictions on 2A. U.S. citizens are NOT allowed to keep & bear arms:
    - in public schools
    - in courts of law
    - on commercial airliners
    - at the post office
    - etc.
To pretend that our "right to keep & bear arms" has not ALREADY been infringed is simple unbridled ignorance.

According to my sources, our Bill of Rights has never been amended.

So what you're proposing, after centuries of U.S. history, that at long last we break that record, and amend our Bill of Rights, to REDUCE citizen's rights? To give government differentially even MORE power over U.S.?

The intended use of firearms, for one.
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

No shit. And all those infringements have not stopped the criminal use of firearms, have they? Do you think more will?

Which is even more reason to amend them. If that's true, that the bill of rights we're never amended then that means we've been living our lives according to a document that's outdated and completely misrepresents our current society.

Well the current way obviously isn't working. People have access to assult rifles and theres been nothing but mass murder. So let's see how a ban shapes out.

Semi automatics have been around for over a century. Why has this just recently become a problem? Oh, and people don't have access to "assault rifles," they can only be obtained with strict and proper permits.

Why has it become a problem? Are you not keeping up with the news?

Oh and those "permits" don't mean anything if a person on the FBI list can purchase one and shoot up a club.

You are pretty thick. I'll ask in a more simpler manner.
Why have these school shootings just recently become a problem when semi automatic weapons have been around for over a century?
Oh, and those permits (for "actual" assault rifles) are incredibly hard to obtain, not to mention expensive.

Were schools being shot up in the 1900s?

Did people have the same rights back then as we do now?

Were these weapons as powerful then as they are now?

" And all those infringements have not stopped the criminal use of firearms, have they? Do you think more will? " R6 #245
Are you merely acting naïve, or is this the real thing?

You present as a certitude the outcome of an uncontrolled experiment.
How can you know for certain that the current laws restricting 2A haven't saved a dozen lives, or more?
You present that proof, and I'll validate your position.
UNTIL you prove that the current restrictions have been of zero benefit, you're merely expressing what most experts will tell you is an ignorant opinion.
    "If that's true" KD #246
    "IF"?!
Here's a news flash for you: The British are coming! The British are coming!
"that the bill of rights we're never amended then that means we've been living our lives according to a document that's outdated and completely misrepresents our current society." KD #246
    News flash #2:

You being acquainted with a fundamental reality does not transform reality.
It merely nudges you one small increment closer to that reality.
Do not rest. You obviously have a long, long way to go!
