I am sure the company installing the bridge is relieved because Florida does not allow you to sue your employer for negligence.

I doubt it, most of the dead were in the cars.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

I thought that was a helluva span for having no center support.

I wonder why they didn't put it up first.

Accelerated building techniques... Apparently in this case it meant "throw it up, support it after".

In this case it appears the installers are at fault but to be clear architects don't engineer bridges.

Of course disasters never happen under socialism, but wait, didn't Aberfan happen during the era of nationalised coal mining?

I assumed that the "accelerated" part applied only to the fact that they assembled pre-fab pieces on the side of the road, out of the way of traffic. Seems to me like they still could've provided a temporary center support to hold it up safely until such time as they could come back and install a permanent one.

    Dumb, dumb, dumb.

That doesn't stop you ambulance chasers from suing.
