Default Another way to look at the county level 2016 results

I always wondered, if land area apparently deserves extra representation, why isn't Alaska ever shown to scale? Hardly anyone lives there, but that apparently doesn't matter to conservatives, who are happy treating Manhattan as if it's just a tiny speck next to Buttfuck, Alabama. Here's a picture of it roughly to scale.

Looks like the Democrats DO have significant rural support! The most rural areas of them all. Alaska needs to get an electoral vote for every 1000 square miles, IMO, and the it needs to be cast county by county. Because square miles > people.

idiot. square miles are not a factor for electoral votes -being a state is.
The other factor is population - so the 2 factors are the same makeup as Congress uses ( bicameral) for representation

And representatives, Wyomimg, which is smaller than metro Buffalo, is guaranteed three electoral votes, it wasn't bothersome, happening twice in two hundred years, but now it has occurred twice in the last five elections, if it was to happen again in the near future we should reexamine the electoral college

We should reexamine the electoral college right now.

This is the map Trump always loves to show, he loves the county level results because of the vast land area. But he never takes into account Alaska.

I think Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania should rightly show that Russia won those states. The Russian electors merely voted for their desired candidate.

A total lack of enthusiasm for Hillary is why those states went for Trump. Were you aware that she didn't make a single appearance in Wisconsin during the entire campaign? Meanwhile, Trump held events in Michigan and Wisconsin during the final week. Those states swung to Trump because of turnout. Hillary simply could not get her base excited.

I guess even the Russians wouldn't vote for Hillary.

Your map is not to scale. The contiguous states amount to slightly over 5 times the area of Alaska. Hawaii also appears to be out of scale. Even with the elevated sizes of Alaska and Hawaii in the map, there still appears to be more red than blue. But we determine the winner by electoral votes.

I don't think there is anything left to examine. The number of studies, books, and articles about the Electoral College tells us anything we want to know. If you are really saying it that we should change it, you need to write your Representative and Senators to initiate a constitutional amendment.

You should give back the land you illegally occupy in Mississippi to the Choctaws.

Yes you are right, this is far more accurate.
