Why do 7th generation Americans call themselves African/Americans?
Especially when they've never been there, and many can't even point it out on a map. Very few know anything about the politics in Africa, and few would agree with them.
So why the false label?
It's true their ancestors were from there, but we all have ancestors from somewhere else. So what?

Agreed. Hell, I was born in Canada and raised in Australia, so I call myself an Australian. Imagine if my great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandson decided that because I was born in Canada, he should call himself a Canadian/Australian. Yet, as ridiculous as that sounds, that's exactly what blacks are doing today in the U.S. by calling themselves 'African/American'.
