Default It’s time to arm teachers, says Ohio sheriff offering free concealed-carry training

A sheriff in Ohio has said that, in the aftermath of the latest school shooting, it’s time to arm educators — and he’s promising to do his part to train them.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones is offering free concealed carry classes to teachers and school employees who work in the county just north of Cincinnati.

“I believe that school teachers should be taught how to deal with guns, when guns come to the classroom,” Jones told Fox 19. “I’m going to do my part, and I assume I’m probably the only one in the state of Ohio that’s doing that — but something has to happen.”

It's not a bad idea. Especially if you, or someone close to you, has already been victimized.

It's quite evident that the laws making schools gun free zones haven't worked.

So...having more guns on the school grounds is he way you think will result in fewer shootings.

    Okay...you may be right.

More guns = more shooting as I see it, but I may be wrong.

We have more guns per capita in America than any other country in the world...and we have many, many, many more shootings than any other country.

    More guns = more shooting.

That's really the whole point. Once the bulk of America wakes up and pulls its head out of the Left's ass, they'll realize that criminals ALWAYS operate outside the law.

Nope. More criminals equals more shootings. What anti-gun nuts keep side stepping is that it takes a human finger to pull the trigger of a gun. And if a psychopath is attached to the finger pulling the trigger, then we have to neutralize the psychopath, not the gun.

Why punish the lawful for the bad behaviors of the unlawful? It's insane.

The school in Florida had an armed guard, how did that work out?

So now the kid who wants to go into teaching has to acquire the college degree, pass the State requirements, work toward a certification, and now you want him/her to start training so that he/she can pack in the classroom? That will draw the best and brightest to the occupation

It'd certainly weed out the diaper dopers, and that'd ALWAYS be a good thing.

If criminals operated within the law, they wouldn't be called criminals and the "Gun Free Zone" signs would work.

And to accomplish that you want teachers packing

Three elements make up a shooting; a shooter, a target, and a tool to make it all possible. We can't evaluate everyone in the Nation to find potential shooters, you can attempt to protect the target as you are recommending here, or, you can eliminate as best as is allowed the tool necessary to execute the shooting

You tell me which approach is the most logical

Criminals are law biding citizens until they commit their first criminal act, just as shooters are law biding gun owners till they fire their first shot

Yeah, we'd be left with Einsteins like Ted Nugent as teachers

What YOU seem to be side-stepping, Granule...is THAT THE UNITED STATES HAS MORE GUNS IN THE HANDS OF DECENT, LAW ABIDING, MORAL PEOPLE THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD...

...AND YET WE STILL LEAD, BY FAR, IN THE NUMBER OF SHOOTINGS.

Every indication is that MORE GUNS...will lead to MORE, not less...shootings.

If that young man hadn't bought the gun legally, knowing the issues that he dealt with, and the mindset that he had, do you think a gun ban would haven prevented him from carrying out the atrocity? The murder of two officers just this past week in a neighboring community involved a shooter who could not legally purchase a weapon of any kind, so he had someone else purchase it for him. I imagine if that hadn't worked out, and he wanted one, it wouldn't have been too difficult. Unfortunately, mentally deranged individuals will always find a way to carry out their insanity.
