Part of my point. WHY do we have the extra regulations on fully automatic firearms? WHY are they stigmatized? Is it because someone might use one in a crowded area? We sure as hell see that happening now with semis, and to great effect.
If anyone truly feels like it's a people problem and not a gun problem why has there been so little outcry to legalize fully auto weapons post 1986? Does anyone here feel as though their 2A rights have been infringed upon by the full auto regulations? Do you even realize what you're missing? Do only criminals have fully automatic weapons? Why have they been used so INfrequently in crimes?

The OP, though clunky in its wording, is essentially correct.
But, I would caution that there are still unwanted political ramifications for the right and certainly for politicians who go too far on this issue. The NRA exerts an enormous amount of influence in Washington, which flies under the radar for the most part. A tragedy like this shines a light on that influence, and the politicians who accept the most money from that organization are generally called out for that.
Politically, that's not a big deal in some areas. For contested seats where they rely on independent voters, who believe in the 2nd amendment but aren't as passionate about gun ownership in general? Probably not a good thing.

You do not care that thousands of people and many, many kids die every year due to our lack of gun regulation. They are collateral damage to your ability to hold a deadly weapon in your sweaty little hands. Truth is guns can be legally regulated. And, they should be.Just a reminder that no matter how anti american you guys are, and how much you hate our constitution, you know deep down nothing will change from this. Gun rights are here to stay, and there is nothing you can do about it.

The ATF and Obama admin. ignored the NRA recommendations.
