It's obvious we need to see a return of school prayer.

It all started when reagan was elected he was the catalist for the destruction of the middle class " supply side economics" we see it now
there's no light at the end of the hall for anyone but the rich, the rich get massive tax breaks every few years and we the people pay for it.

You think Reagan and tax breaks led to the increase of shootings?
    That's delirious...
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

How are you computing these "massive tax breaks"? If the income tax is cut by say 10% the following would be the result.
    $20,000= $2,000
    $80,000= $8,000
    $160,000= $16,000
    $1,000,000= $100,000

So yes by that standard the rich get more but by the same token the "rich" also pay more. I know I paid a hell of a lot more before I retired and got much larger refunds. Simple math.

Yes that is an over simplification but only and example to make the point.

I was raised by that generation and used the same techniques on my two children, now both in their mid 20's well into their careers: happy, productive adults.

Actually it started with rap music and the glorification of gang culture.

We used to get the NRA's magazine, "American Hunter." Yes, it had hunting articles. It also included editorials and advertising advising its readers that we are under constant attack by brown people streaming across our borders, turban-people plotting across the seas, and Democrats. It's Fearmonger-per-page quotient was pretty high. There were as many ads for self-defense and high-power large-magazine weapons as there were for pure hunting and target-shooting equipment.
What does that have to do with kids through? Kids aren't NRA members or shooting up schools for political reasons or because of brown people.

Exactly. We didn't have these problems when we taught American values and when our children were reciting Christian prayers at the beginning of the school day.

Supply side economics is causing today's school shootings? Ok, that's a new one

    That's delirious...[/QUOTE]
I think ALL THE ILLS WE NOW SEE are because there is no longer a chance for people to
work for a better life, because the middle class is all but gone.

Having a large middle class, as the US once did, is the key to a strong society, that allows people to succeed and
work/move into a better life, without it there is no chance to a better life. Not everyone can be a doctor etc. etc.

Supply side economics all but erased the middle class, something we all see happening now unless you've been
connected to politics for the last 40 years, you simply don't know what was the main reason for mess we are in
now. The rich have increased their net worth 400% the other 95% of us haven't increased are net worth at all.
90% of the stock market is owned by the top 5% of the people. There are reasons for what's happening.
Anything that is worth a lot of money is controlled by the rich/corporations. if you like what's going on for decades
just keep doing what your doing

    All of the above.

I think the main contributing component is the wall to wall coverage the killer gets for the next few years if not indefinitely.

People are already talking about his life, his struggles, his parents, etc. This is the notoriety they seek. Rather than just hanging yourself in the closet and no one cares about you, why not shoot up a place and live in infamy? Have people study you and your life forever?

Also mental health. As people are bombarded with more information, it is making people crazier. Not to mention more people on the spectrum, higher autism rates etc. People are joining ISIS and the like.

With higher and higher populations and more mixed culture and backgrounds, the more likely for crazy individuals. And with more people filling large areas, the easier it is to kill many in a few seconds.

I think with new mental health struggles and higher populations, these facts need to be considered with gun control. Like the OP states guns were more prevalent in the 1970s but no shootings.
