I'm not much of a supporter of the Republican Party, but with winning 1,000 seats since 2008 it doesn't really sound like they are dying or going downhill. From 1932 to 1994 the Democrats held both houses of Congress most years and most state governments; so, it seems the Republicans are doing much better today with the presidency, both houses of Congress, 33 governors, and 67/99 state chamber than they have since 1932.
