Thumbs up 'Black Women Are Realizing the Power of Their Vote'

The massive turnout of black women in 2017’s elections was only the start, predicts Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.

There’s nothing Republicans can do to win them back, she says, and they’ll keep electing Democrats to push the GOP from power.

Bottoms has a distinctive vantage point. In December, she won her first term, making her both the most prominent black woman to win a major election since Donald Trump was inaugurated and the most prominent black female executive in the South—and one of the few in the entire country.

There will be more, she said—and soon.

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

This doesn't break it down by gender:

The black voter turnout rate declined for the first time in 20 years in a presidential election, falling to 59.6% in 2016 after reaching a record-high 66.6% in 2012.

The 7-percentage-point decline from the previous presidential election is the largest on record for blacks. (It’s also the largest percentage-point decline among any racial or ethnic group since white voter turnout dropped from 70.2% in 1992 to 60.7% in 1996.) The number of black voters also declined, falling by about 765,000 to 16.4 million in 2016, representing a sharp reversal from 2012. With Barack Obama on the ballot that year, the black voter turnout rate surpassed that of whites for the first time. Among whites, the 65.3% turnout rate in 2016 represented a slight increase from 64.1% in 2012.

    YAWN!

Does it factor in voter suppression? How about felons who lost their right to vote even after they served their time? Did it factor in how many provisional ballots that were given to Black voters? How about the new laws instituted just in time for this racist fuck to be on the ballot?

    How about gerrymandering?

All your post does is solidify all the cheating the racist republican pigs do to suppress the Black vote. Our numbers were too high in 2012 and the racist pigs had to fix that.

Besides, dump still would have won if you all didn't suppress the Black votes because the racist republicans cheated to get dump in office.

for the 10th time STOP BLAMING BLACK VOTERS FOR DUMPS WIN.

THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE AND WHITE WOMEN selected dump.

You mofo rig the election then try to blame Blacks. .......we aren't buying it.

    Those are just the facts.

And how do you gerrymander a presidential election?

So I take it the "pewresearch" didn't factor in all the facts.

If you don't know what gerrymandering does and how it effects the outcome of Presidential elections, then you need to research.

Perhaps you need to stop following dump racist white women and searching for other peoples opinions on twitter and start researching how gerrymandering and voter suppression effects the outcome of elections.

Do you have any evidence to back your claim as to why the black vote dropped as it did?

I need to research how gerrymandering affects presidential races? Nebraska and Maine apportion electoral votes by districts and they are two of the whitest states in the country. Gerrymandering had nothing to do with the Presidential election.

You're free to look up how Pew does their research. And you're free to show evidence to back your claims as to why the percentage of black voters dropped for this election.

Our elections have been tampered with for decades. Removing voters from the rolls, who you think may vote Democratic, is a norm for the Repubs now. They erased about 50-K in Florida , making Bush president. They are doing it big in the south and now Pennsylvania and Minnesota are learning how. So Russia is interfering now. They don't figure lets prevent that. instead the calculus is, does it help us. If it does, it is fine. That is why Trump has done nothing about it. Well, that and his love affair with Putin.

Voter suppression is another Republican tack. So do you think they will do anything? No way.
