The difference is that 0.333... is a rational number namely 1/3, whereasπ=3.1415926535897932384626433832795... is irrational.

Damo, you need to save this thread.

Dixie would be so proud that his memorial thread restarted the 1/3 debate.

Indeed. I can't believe some people are still taking the "impossible to divide a candy bar into equal thirds" stance. (If any of y'all remember that is actually what he said, that one of the pieces would be infinitesimally larger than the others because 1/3 isn't decimally expressed and since it couldn't be precisely annotated decimally it didn't exist).
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

But we're only talking about theoretical constraints, not actual dimensions. This is not even worth it.., I'm done. This site has gotten so lame anyway. I won't miss it. later assholes

Somebody seems to be taking this too seriously.
