Cool White Evangelicals, This is Why People Are Through With You; So STFU

"For eight years they watched you relentlessly demonize a black President; a man faithfully married for 26 years; a doting father and husband without a hint of moral scandal or the slightest whiff of infidelity.

They watched you deny his personal faith convictions, argue his birthplace, and assail his character—all without cause or evidence. They saw you brandish Scriptures to malign him and use the laziest of racial stereotypes in criticizing him.

And through it all, White Evangelicals—you never once suggested that God placed him where he was,
you never publicly offered prayers for him and his family,
you never welcomed him to your Christian Universities,
you never gave him the benefit of the doubt in any instance,
you never spoke of offering him forgiveness or mercy,
your evangelists never publicly thanked God for his leadership,
your pastors never took to the pulpit to offer solidarity with him,
you never made any effort to affirm his humanity or show the love of Jesus to him in any quantifiable measure.

You violently opposed him at every single turn—without offering a single ounce of the grace you claim as the heart of your faith tradition. You jettisoned Jesus as you dispensed damnation on him.

And yet today, you openly give a “mulligan” to a white Republican man so riddled with depravity, so littered with extramarital affairs, so unapologetically vile, with such a vast resume of moral filth—that the mind boggles.

And the change in you is unmistakable. It has been an astonishing conversion to behold: a being born again.

    More ... Lot's More ... and it's ALL TRUE!

Stop it. Religion is business. look at it that way and it all makes sense. Don't look at it on religious grounds. It fails miserably.

They didn't praise the guy who mocked them by saying they clung to their guns and religion and pushed policies that (they felt) reduced religious freedom? Shocking.

It's not surprising that you would see a statement of empathy as "mocking."

    Here, have some truthiness:

"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Go ahead, deny the truth in these words.

That's empathy? I'm not an evangelical so I won't speak for them but having read comments from them they don't take it as empathy, and I can understand why.

easy enough.....you have to be incredibly stupid not to realize there is no truth in those words.......Obama clung to his assumption that jobs were never coming back......as long as he was president they didn't........but they are coming back now because people decided not to cling to his lib'rul pessimism.......

I can't. How much empathy can you muster for creatures with the moral compass of harvester ants. President Obama bent over backwards to hold out an olive branch to these putrid vile violent filthy creatures who
would sooner disembowel him as look at him. He was wayyyyyyy too kind. The hypocrisy OP is unassailable. A direct hit. Nail meets hammer. Get in my poster. Thank you come again.

The only thing Obama bent over backwards to do is make it easier for you and the rest of your kind to kiss his ass. Pucker up.

To each his own how a person chooses to vote but I don't buy the argument that unless you're rich you are voting against your own interest unless you vote democratic. And I definitely don't buy that one must be bitter to do so.

It also didn't help the optics that this question was asked to Obama at a house up the street from me at a wealthy home in SF.

I'm not surprised someone that supported him because of the color of his skin would continue to stick her nose up his black ass even after he left office. Pucker up.

Truth hurts, don't it? Because it was those dumb MF's who voted for the very "elitists" that use them as door mats. Remember, Obama didn't make up the polling and demographics that MSM and right wing pundits use so often that listed the red state areas Obama referred to.

Yes, they voted against their own best interests..... Obama I'm sure saw that as well. He was making a statement here of sympathy regarding their anger and frustration with prior administrations who let these people down. The fact that the RWNJs decided to take his words as a slur rather than as empathy with their plight says a lot more about them than it does about our President.

That you consider what he said as empathy proves you have your nose stuck further up his black ass that once thought.

Bottom line: a black man that was in charge and could tell them what to do was just too much for some. That's why they grind their teeth and spend every waking moment repeating all the lies that failed them in two elections....and why they are in denial of the economic disaster that preceded Obama and how he started the slow recovery they are currently seeing. Bigotry and prejudice are pathetic maladies.

Voting like you did for someone due to his skin color proves you're a dumb MF. Pucker up, boy.
