Too bad the Republicans let Chips go unfunded since September, the Government was only shut down for a Weekend.

I'm seeing a lot of celebrating by the foil hats, and a lot of unnecessary angst by those who feel that there would be no backlash for a govt. shutdown. I'm no Schumer fan, for a number of reasons. However, after a year of McConnell bypassing all Democrats, and most Republicans in his attempt to take healthcare away from millions, and give billions in tax giveaways to the wealthy, Democrats finally have a voice in any legislation going forward.

He allowed trump to shut down the govt, and for the most part, he got some Red state Dems. with tough mid terms coming up some quality sound bites as they demanded that the military be paid during the shutdown. McConnell is the one who will be blamed for holding the troops hostage.

He did manage to take CHIP off the table, and force the House to finally bring any immigration reform to a vote...something that has been wallowing in the House for five years.

If nothing else, this creates an appearance that the next govt. shutdown will be laid in the lap of Ryan, or McConnell if compromise isn't possible in the Senate.
