I don't know what the law is in the new millennium.

But my active military service began during the Vietnam War.
And in my unit there was a guy that not only was not a citizen, but spoke virtually no English.

Whether he as awarded citizenship for faithful service I don't know. We parted ways before I ETSs.

But I gather that's the carrot dangled before some such volunteers.

No empathy and no understanding. He demands personal loyalty and not loyalty to the nation. His only core belief is in his own superiority to everyone else. His only want is exercise more and more personal power." smb / purveyor of fact 18/03/18

A National Guard soldier who was home for the holidays died while saving people from the massive apartment fire in the Bronx borough in New York City on Thursday night, according to several news reports.
Emmanuel Mensah, a 28-year-old who immigrated from Ghana five years ago, returned to his apartment for the first time after joining the Army a year ago, according to The New York Times. He was among the 12 people killed in the blaze that consumed an apartment building near the corner of East 187th Street and Prospect Avenue.
Mensah lived with friends of his father — a married couple and their four children. He got that family out of the burning building safely before pulling four more people from the fire, said Twum Bredu, his uncle who lived next door. Witnesses cited in the Times' report say Mensah disappeared after going back into the building to look for more victims.

DACA was unconstitutional. Did you know that?

Immigration is to be dealt with by Congress not executive order.

So Trump acting Constitutionally is what bothers you and your brother Cawacko?

How invigorating to know that after over a year in office, the Republican president of the United States of America has in at least one case complied with his obligations under Article 2 Sect. 1-7, & Art.2 Sect.3

One does not have to be an American citizen in order to serve in our armed forces. As I mentioned...about 8,000 non-citizens join every year...and almost 5% of active members right now are non-citizens.

Look it up. Educate yourself...then shoot your mouth off.

DACA, which grants a work permit and social security number, currently does not change military enlistment policy as only U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents are able to enlist or be commissioned as officers; thus, DREAMers cannot enlist in the armed servicess.Jan 23, 2013

I had to provide that, plus driver's license and HS diploma (when I first started seeing my recruiter, I provided a letter from my HS registrar stating I was on-track to graduate). That's only because we were able to provide these things, which makes it easier for the recruiter's office and MEPS to process us. In reality, recruiters and military processors have all sorts of means at their disposal to vette and process potential recruits.

I don't know if there have been changes since, there may have been, but at that time (before computerized records), I was told I needed those to enlist.

I'm sure the process has changed over the years...that being said, today, to an individual must be a legal immigrant, permanently residing in the United States, and must have a green card...issued by Citizenship and Immigration Services (photo and fingerprints)...so, anyone can't just stroll in and sign up...
