My "PAP"...grandfather, being native American taught me things that peaceful and happy individuals should never be concerned about. Translation.....why worry or study about things that one cannot possibly alter. Much like another old axiom that is common to those with an addictive personality trait, those who easily become disassociated with reality by using something as a crutch to deal with life's decisions and results.
Who really knows its origins but is became popular with those who attended AA in its longer pontificated version. Today that axiom is better known as the serenity prayer, and begins (and ends as far as I am concerned) as such, "Grant me the grace to accept the things that can't be changed, the courage to change the things that I "feel" must be changed, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Wisdom as taught by PAP: Making mistakes and learning not to repeat those mistakes....its natures learning curve. Wisdom can't be taught through education it must be lived. As pap used to say, "The only people that don't make mistakes are those people who don't do anything, the lazy and listless....avoid these type of people."
That's the reason that I personally know several individuals with PhDs in their title that have no common sense whatsoever. Why? They have spent their entire lives seeking degrees in academia while never applying such to real life. As pap used to say, "Those who can....do, those that can't become teachers". The strange thing? Pap was a certified TEACHER....who preferred to be called a "farmer" by profession.
In the end? Mr. Hitler was responsible for own actions, as we're are all endowed at birth with FREE WILL.....the person that supposedly saved his life is not responsible for anything other than making a humanitarian decision/judgement that 100% of the people SHOULD HAVE MADE in the same situation. Evil does not thrive nor depend upon the existence of one individual soul....evil depends upon people making the wrong life decisions, evil is a part of the human condition....ying cannot exist void of yang as a standard must be set to calibrate morality as defined by society at large.
Evil societies make evil laws and more's.....righteous societies make moral laws. All law is nothing but a reflection of any societies moral traits. The power of law remains in the hands of those who freely choose to obey those laws....not the criminals who live by choice outside such law.
