LOL... so tell me which of their policies you disagree with:

    1) Taking over private sectors and letting government cronies run the system
    2) Taking money/land/businesses from the 'wealthy' and then promising more to the 'poor' (who in turn vote for you)
    3) Consolidating more and more power into the federal government
    4) Price controls

Because Venezuela was true socialism. European countries are typically a blend. Also, because many on the left pointed to Venezuela back in 2006-2008 as proof that socialism worked?

why is it that every time we get 'more freedom, less regulations' post, somalia is always dragged out as the poster child?
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

The Left is too stupid to realize that Somalia is the most COMMUNIST State (as defined by Marx) in existence today.

Why is Saudi Arabia committed to pumping as much oil as possible as long as it is at least $9 a barrel?

smh... yes, to a degree, but Venezuela was about as close as you could get to pure socialism. The government had taken over almost all aspects of the market.

You referring to minor Gulf War induced recession of 1990? That was a minor hickup in the long term bull market. That was also the only recession in that time frame.

They aren't. They too need higher oil prices in order to pay for all the promises they made to their people.
