considering the FACT that your only inclination of what the 2nd truly means is pure delusional fantasy, your opinion means jack fucking shit, cop sucker
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

I own several guns, including two shotguns, a .22 rifle, a .357 revolver, and 4 non-revolver handguns which I've never fired. I used to have a .308 as well but gave it away because I don't hunt. These guns all belonged to my late husband. He had a concealed carry permit. At that time you actually had to take a class and be able to hit a target 7 yards away. I inherited them all. I'd sell them today if I knew someone sane would buy them.
if you don't know the laws, then don't try to tell others what they are. thanks.

I have a baseball bat for home self-defense. Does that make me a bad person?
You would be surprised how effective a good, solid piece of wood is for self defense.

Getting into a gun battle in a dark house seems like a pretty good way to risk shooting someone innocent, a family member, a pet, putting a hole through the wall and hitting the neighbors house, etc.

I don't keep a gun in my house for self-defense, for the same reason I don't take a parachute with me when in a high rise office building, in case the fire exits get blocked. Statistically the cost-risk-benefit just does not cut if for me.

it depends on the state you live in and what kind of carrying you want to do.......open or concealed. you're in TX now, right?

    1. All guns must be purchased from a licensed dealer.
    2. Background checks, no exceptions, no excuses.
    3. Mandatory trigger guards.
    4. Mandatory gun safe.
    5. Liability insurance in case one of your guys is lost, stolen, or used in a suicide or a crime or an accident resulting in injury/death.
    6. Mandatory gun handling and safety training at owner's expense, renewable every other year.
    7. Database with all guns and owners that only law enforcement can access.

I'm sure you can think of others.

I've got to head off to class in a few minutes; looking forward to continuing this civil discussion. Hopefully the crazies won't show up and ruin it.
apply all of those requirements to government first, see how it works. after 10 years, if there's success, maybe we can talk.

    2. Background checks, no exceptions, no excuses. So long as nonviolent offenses (even felonies) or acts (like getting a medical marijuana card for example), do not prevent one from purchasing a gun

I actually agree with all of that, except what I wrote in red. I do believe in common-sense gun regulation...I guess I should have prefaced my OP with that. I just don't support ridiculous regulations, outright gun bans/confiscation, and such.

There is a range requirement where you have to score above a certain target. Then you get fingerprinted and background checked by the state. If you pass those requirements, then you can be issued a license to carry which covers open or concealed.

What good is a gun for self defense if it has a trigger guard on it?

The FACT is, dumbfuck, that you DON’T have the right to pack anything, any time, anywhere.

That you THINK you do merely illustrates your ignorance of the 2nd.

That you THINK you do, but are too much the coward to prove it, illustrates your pussification.

Ignorant AND a pussy. Bad combo, Rambutt.

this is pretty much the equivalent of 'you can own a gun, you just can't use it'.
