It's not even fair to Nixon to call what Trump does Nixonian. Trump lies for fun. It's almost like a sport w/ him.

The stuff I heard during the campaign was more than enough reason to mistrust him. Probably the biggest one was a number of times he's gone bankrupt and s*** on subcontractors.

The sheer number of business ventures he's been involved with makes it a non issue. Part of the high stakes world. I couldn't get too worked up about it for that reason. I didn't like him at all, but I can't fault people when a business venture doesn't work out. Perhaps my own history of self employment makes me biased to sympathize with us hapless business owners. LOL While I've never gone bankrupt, I've also never put myself in that position by trying to leverage the way Trump does. I could have easily gone bankrupt had I tried to build my business beyond a simple sole proprietorship.

I was wrong back during the election to not be afraid of the damage Trump could do. I couldn't imagine how stupid he would become. I regret dismissing the concerns people were expressing. They were correct.

He was just a stupid during the campaign as it has been since he was elected. Why couldn't you have seen that?

It has sort of exceeded what I thought possible. I think because of the large NeverTrump movement on the GOP side, I felt like Congress would keep him in check, and that he'd quickly be exposed for what he really is just by his own dishonesty & incompetence. I thought it would make him largely ineffective.

In the months after he was elected, I was even hopeful that those things would reign him in & force him to be more practical, and that there might even be some positives - I thought he might really go after things like the debt, for example.

But what he does is working. It's a spell. His supporters, the GOP and even much of the country at large are starting to mirror him - it's the opposite of what I thought might happen. He is remaking America in his own image, in a way. "Alternative facts" and strategic exaggeration are becoming the norm.

It's really worse than I would have thought possible. And we're just a year in.

I had thought that Trump would pivot And be a better president that he has, I have noticed in the last five or six weeks he's toned down his tweeting And angry rhetoric, but I don't think he can do it for long.

Well, that's encouraging, my friend. I marvel at your ability to pay attention to Trump. I haven't got it in me to try anymore. Just like in real life, I avoid people who lie to me. Thank you for watching and discerning the shrillness factor for us. I feel like I should be paying more attention to what he's doing and saying, but like I said, I just can't do it.

I'm not avoiding the major details, but I'm not going to watch his tweets. Sorry I gave you the wrong impression.
