For the sake of one man's ego & sheer vanity, the following institutions are being discredited, undermined and weakened, likely to a point where repair – if it’s even possible – could take years or even a lifetime:

The national media
The FBI
The CIA
The remainder of the intelligence community
Large portions of the judicial branch

We knew this was who Trump was. We knew that nothing else mattered to him, aside from himself. He has left nothing but a trail of broken reputations and ruined careers in his wake. But the fact that the GOP has become his willing accomplice in all of this is, at least to me, surprising. NeverTrump was a temporary moment of clarity for many on the right, and has since been traded for political expediency and temporary gain.

The Republican Party is currently making its bed. Yeah – they’ll have to lie in it. For much longer than they think, and certainly well past the time that this weird, inexplicable spell passes and they see Trump for the reckless, out-of-control and purely self-interested id that he is.

I look around and see these institutions shooting themselves in the foot. How many partisan hacks have high ranking positions in the FBI? How many fake stories can the media come out with before someone finally calls them on it? What are NFL fans supposed to do when players disrespect the flag?

Maybe the problem is with the institutions and not Trump.

I can't speak for anyone else on the left, but *I* do..... as long as they're collecting intel on non-U.S. citizens, that is. I imagine we will never know how many terrorist plots against Americans the intelligence community has thwarted. I'm concerned about the INTEL agencies run wild - a force to themselves beyond congressional oversight.
The lie about the documents they have, and then they stonewall getting them out to Congress or FOIA requests
They use unmasking for political reasons of identifying US ciizens.

Not sure about "hack," but I have almost no doubt whatsoever that most who have worked for the FBI since its inception have been "partisan." Anyone who aspires to work for an organization like that is generally very engaged in current events and passionate about the direction of the country. Of course they have strong political opinions. It's so absurd to think they do not, or they shouldn't - it's impossible to really address that idea. But I can address that anyone who commits to a job like also commits to leaving their opinion and any potential bias at the door. They take an oath to be dedicated professionals, and Trump's blanket condemnation of them today is a national disgrace.

The media has always had mistakes & bad reporting - that's the nature of a 24x7 news environment, and the deadlines that they are under. It has been this way throughout the media's history. But the vast majority of journalists are equally as dedicated as their FBI counterparts to exposing the truth and being that all-important watchdog on our government.
