Lets not pretend the there was no connection. The girl was the niece of the suspect. That doesn't mean they handled the situation correctly, but please stop pretending it is about race. This case was that she was RELATED to the suspect.

The suspect was white. The girl was black.

I was curious what time it was. I can't find a single article that actually has details of the situation. One says that they were "going to the store". Right at the time the officers were arriving to look for a relative who was a murder suspect The adults were shouting in the background. It was a rather chaotic situation. And it wasn't obvious that this girl was only 11 at the time. It would have been better if he had simply said, "Come on, have a seat in the back of the car so that I can interview you". What's the likelihood that it would have happened like that? With everyone having a fit in the background?
If the officer admitted later he should have handled it differently, what's your issue? I'm not defending him. I'm commenting on what happened.

She was leaving the house with two adults, not walking the streets alone. And there are plenty of articles with details; just put "Honestie Hodges" in your search engine and they'll come up.

Here's the problem with what the cops did. It's called racial profiling.
