Default The African-American Voter Message to Democrats for National Elections

Had African-Americans voted for Hillary Clinton with the same fervor they voted for Obama and Doug Jones, she would now be the President of the United States. Anyone who refutes that, feel free to back up what you claim .. I sure as hell can.

Black Alabamans went to the polls in numbers higher than Obama's.

How black voters helped propel Doug Jones to upset Alabama Senate win

Exit polls suggest that a near-historic number of black voters turned out on Tuesday across the state.

African-Americans made up nearly 30% of the electorate, surpassing the number from the presidential elections of Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 in the state.

Exit polls also show that 96% of black voters in the state backed Jones over Moore — earning the Democrat the 21,000-vote victory.[/b]

Polling from the Washington Post shows similar data, and numbers suggesting that Moore won all genders and education levels of white voters, with his lowest percentage being 52% of white college-educated women.

Nearly 80% of non-college educated white men reported voting for the controversial Republican, part of 68% of white voters overall.

The support from black voters that propelled Jones to Washington comes amid Democrats’ concerns about a lack of enthusiasm in the Alabama election after previous off-cycle election disappointments including the defeat of Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia.

Pew Research on the 2016 election saw that black turnout had decreased for the first time in 20 years, falling to 59.6% from a 2012 high of 66.6%

First, the next time a republican suggests that blacks only supported in the numbers that we did was because Obama was Black .. point to this election as an end to that argument.

But for democrats, what was the difference? What was the motivator?

First, Ossoff had little connection to the black community, and his positions, other than being a democrat, did not engender any real enthusiasm among black voters.

Hillary Clinton could not remove the lingering pain from what Bill Clinton with his 'crime' bill, which destroyed many black communities and families. Her support for the issues of BLM was too little, too late.

    Why Doug Jones?

    That's why.

    What is the message?

Just being a democrat will not produce the energized support from black voters that democrats will need to win the take back the House and Senate. Address the issues important to the black community in local and state elections with the same energy that you will expect from those same communities in national elections.

That's OK. Let blacks continue to vote for Democrats. It's done well for them. Almost 9% unemployment, 75% bastard birth rate, highest dropout rate of all groups, 1 in every 3 1/2 on food stamps, and 1 in every 8 on welfare. What else could you ask for from a party to which you provide that much support. It's either that or blacks simply aren't capable of doing any better.

It's like Pavlov's dog...they've been trained. Story doesn't mentioned the percentage of non-college educated African Americans who voted for Jones.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

    Then whine about it.

    Makes no difference.

Democrats are fighting for equality for all, the problem is that we get interrupted every 8 years for the Republicans to turn the clock back.

96% is a block without much variation or distinctions between income and academic levels.

True, but they are going to need to fight harder for their most loyal., and often most critical segment of the party.

That's funny. Why were you decades behind Libertarians in fighting for gay marriage and against the drug war? Why did you elect someone in 2008 who ran against gay marriage?

Because Democrats take the approach that you cant accomplish anything unless you first get elected so we are slower than some Libertarians. Additionally, Democrats believe in things like forced integration of public schools and lunch counters. Democrats see that if you allow too much of the nations wealth to accumulate in power centers, equality for all is impossible.
