My point was that maybe conservatism is seen as a counter-culture nowadays, and it kind of gives it that appeal of being against the grain of society.
Totally random but to your last point I've seen some hipsters going to church here in SF. I asked someone about it and they responded, "of course hipsters want to go against the grain". I laughed but it actually made some sense.

This guy worked in IT so supposedly is bright, but his critical thinking gland got shot off in the war or something.

    Talk about confirmation bias.
If we are supposedly all evolved from apes as many contend, why is it considered racist to be called an ape

Loathing of Institutional politics is where it starts.
Realization that belonging to any DC based party is a suckers game-
unless you are part of the elite power structure that only cares about keeping their power.

Unanswerable to the people, and unable to accomplish anything except minutia on party lines
leads us populists to look for anything/anyone else that promises to blow it up.

Bernie had that vibe. He got a lot of otherwise leftists hating their own plutocratic rulers.
Hillary DNC corruption shows what utter disregard the SuperDelegate Types have for the will of the people.

All that pent up loathing and frustration led to Trump -who is one angry dude when it comes to DC.
That's where "drain the Swamp" comes from.
It's how populists latched onto Trump-especially when the alternative was Jeb! types and Hillary.

Oh look! An science-hating idiot! One of my favorite snack foods!

Here you go. I'll try to use small words because big ones hurt you.

Humans are primates. Monkeys and apes are primates. Human evolution gifted us with larger brains over millions of years. Some lines of humans have died out... like Neanderthals. Evolution selects for success. Humans have been successful, ascendant over the lower orders of primates. Contemporary primates are a separate line and not directly related to humans.

Humans have developed speech, classification, naming, and assigned qualifications (oh sorry, that word hurt you didn't it?) to these attributes. Humans figured out evolution and our link to our primate cousins. Humans love to beat on each other because like you we're often stupid. Humans decided way back when that calling someone an "ape" or a "bird brain" was a great insult. Humans also learned to create weapons to use on other humans. Humans learned to enslave other humans. Warfare and enslavement is a lot easier when the enemy and the enslaved are seen as less-than-human. Calling a darker-skinned person an ape is a great community-bonding project! Get the crosses and the matches!

Even a moron like you should have figured this out by yourself.

I hope the science didn't burn you too badly.
