Question lets have a honest discussion about results of the moore election and what it means

I have noticed many liberals on JPP already hedging their bets for the moore election. If he wins, that's bad for the republicans because it'll hurt them hard in 2018. At the same time though, I have a nagging feeling that if moore loses, liberals on JPP will ALSO call that bad for republicans and how it was a reckoning for them.

You guys want to have your cake and eat it too, and win no matter what.

So I want to get everyone on the record now, before the spin begins on tuesday.

Politics is a zero sum game. One party is going to gain on tuesday. Perhaps the difference is close, or negligible, but points have to go to one side or the other. So which is it?

What is ultimately the BEST result for the republicans on tuesday? Moore winning? Or Moore losing?

Best result is Moore winning. If Moore wins the senate is off the table in 2018, that's two more years in which you a liberal justice could die or retire and you'd be able to put in some 40 year old shithead barely out of law school with a right wing blog. It would have repercussions for generations. Even having a chance at this is more than worth than Roy Moore's embarrassment. That means the end of Roe vs. Wade, the control of women over their bodies in the majority of the United States (or the entire US, if as I suspect the Republicans try to shove through a bill to define it as murder nationwide).

I'd say that Moore winning would be a slap in the face for the DEMOCRATS and their new toy.

What would he get "thrown out" for? Unproven allegations?

how does he get thrown out? You can't wipe out the will of the people because of things that happened long before he ran for office

actually the senate can kick him out for almost any reason with their own house rules. Then they can replace him with some other republican

    Not going to happen.

For me, I am going to have to give the slight edge that a moore win = republicans win. Mainly for the same reasons watermark states.

    1) Having control of the senate, even for short term, could yield amazingly positive results when it comes to judges and them retiring/dying. Kennedy is still rumored to want to step down soon.

    2) Republicans still have options at their disposal, they can remove him if they want.

    3) Americans have a short attention span and a year later a lot of this will be old news and just another day.

    4) To the extent that these allegations hurt the republican party, I do think that is true. (to a small extent) However I don't think moore losing would actually pacify liberals. Instead it would increase liberal bloodlust and give them a game plan to bring out the floozies. So to the extent that these allegations harm republicans, I dont see a win or loss changing that. And if moore did loose, I promise you they'll find some ho for some other old senator that butt tapped someone 40 years ago.

I am not speaking to if it would happen, only that it's theoretically possible.
