SNL creator Lorne Michaels: we ignored the Harvey Weinstein scandal because he’s from New York.



NBC’s Saturday Night Live is known for hard-hitting political comedy, in which they take real life controversies and turn them into humorous skits.

Yet, despite typically not shying away from scandal, the show chose to ignore Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment allegations.

SNL’s justification for this, according to the show’s creator Lorne Michaels, is because Weinstein and the show both originated from New York City, per the Daily Mail. However, when the comedy show did try a comedic bit on Weinstein’s scandal, the Daily Mail reported it received a positive reaction from the in-studio crowd — they just chose not to use the material on air.

Despite using the “New York” excuse to ignore Weinstein, SNL has repeatedly attacked New Yorker President Donald Trump — particularly when he as under fire for sexual harassment allegations. SNL went so far as to compare Trump’s “locker room talk” comments to Penn State’s child molestation cases.

Lena Dunham has called out men in Hollywood for their “deafening silence” in the wake the sexual harassment allegations made against Harvey Weinstein.

In a New York Times op-ed, the Girls creator and star claimed that while Weinstein is the most “powerful man in Hollywood to be revealed as a predator” and his alleged behavior is “a microcosm of what has been happening in Hollywood since always and of what workplace harassment looks like for women everywhere.”

“A liberal-leaning industry, we have been quick to condemn Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes and, yes, the president. We do not accept sexual abuse as ‘locker room talk,'” she wrote, citing President Donald Trump’s defense of his graphic, sexist comments in a 2005 Access Hollywood video.

“So why the deafening silence, particularly from the industry’s men, when one of our own is outed as having a nasty taste for humiliating and traumatizing women?”

Despite the big bucks and big support that DEMOCRAT Hillary Clinton has received from DEMOCRAT Harvey Weinstein for decades, don’t expect the 2016 DEMOCRAT Presidential candidate to say anything significant soon about the extensive sexual harassment allegations swirling around the accused DEMOCRAT producer.

Having given a keynote address at Stanford University and continuing her “What Happened” book tour in San Francisco the day after the New York Times published a detailed piece on DEMOCRAT Weinstein’s behavior and six-figure settlements, DEMOCRAT Clinton made no mention of the reports or the DEMOCRAT producer.

Active on social media today, the former DEMOCRAT Secretary of State has still said nothing about the scandal, which was quite unlike her fast and extended online response to the mass shooting in Las Vegas late on October 1.

DEMOCRAT Clinton still calls herself a “women+kids advocate” on her Twitter bio and says “To all the little girls watching…never doubt that you are valuable and powerful & deserving of every chance & opportunity in the world” on a pinned tweet dated November 9, 2016.
