The politics of this will not end well for the NFL or the players. This needs to be broken down into two fundamental areas
1) The principle of free speech. Nobody would argue that players have the right to protest and participate in political discourse. However, as employees of each individual team the owner can tell them to stand down and they have ZERO recourse. There is a clause in every players contract that they are to avoid behavior that looks poorly on the NFL. Now obviously because of our political charged country whether this looks badly on the NFL is open to interpretation. Given the ratings decline of NFL games, I would say so far it isn't looking good of the NFL
2) The politics. While nobody disagrees with their right to protest what people are taking issue with is their target and how they are doing it. The bottom line is many Americans look at the flag as a source of pride. That a few SJWs don't is irrelevant. The NFL will lose bigly on the politics of this. The NFL has spent years building its brand and Goodell is letting it go to shit all because Colin Kaepernick wanted to get a little pussy.
