Default Something I don't understand, and no one has yet to explain it, what is the point

of preserving statues to Confederates? For example, what did the likes of Stonewall Jackson, who the President took time to point out today, do or accomplish that he deserves a statue?

our past will not be erased

just like there are statues of Oliver Cromwell in England today the past is memorialized

confederacy and civil war are part of Americas history

btw Jackson was hands down the most able commander of cavalry in history

Wait a minute, the Confederacy isn't all of America's past, and if it is, it would be remember by most as the mistake that killed Americans, and your saying it should be saluted in American history?

He was a native of VA but what became WV. Grew up in Clarksburg, went to West Point. Has a statue in Charleston.

Here in WV I know people who lost ancestors who fought on both sides and died---from the same family in some instances.

    Why don't you ask them.

I did if they are on this forum, but now I'm asking you, why do these people have statues in the first place? And why would anyone feel the need to fight to have the statues remain?

If the public is paying for the grave markers, I have no problem with it, let them erect their own markers like everyone has done

No twist, what you said doesn't make sense, Oliver Cromwell was a part of English history, the Confederacy's role in American History is that of a separate nation, a nation whose pride led to millions of Americans being slaughtered, so why the need for statues?

As usual, what you said makes no sense.

That's why archives asked for clarification.

Basically, because it's part of our history.

Also, as Trump pointed out where do you stop? To be logically [or morally] consistent why does Jefferson get a break? I don't think Robert E. Lee was even a slave owner.

So I'll ask you. Where do you draw the line? If you think the Jefferson monument should stay, why?

Erased? Just because there are no statues to the traitors, the history disappears? For those of you who can't read, that may be so.
