It all has to do with the unique, never before done design of the WTC towers. The exterior walls were actually part of the support system of the buildings. There was a small steel column and beam structure surrounding the elevator shafts in the center of each tower and floor panels constructed of lightweight bar joists that bridged and connected this structure to the outer walls, eliminating the need for interior columns and creating unobstructed views across every floor. It also made the towers flexible and allowed them to sway in the wind.

But that unique one of a kind design is also at the heart of not only why the towers collapsed, but the way they collapsed.

Point is, you cannot compare the WTC towers to any other building, because there are no other buildings constructed like they were.

Heads gotta roll, I don't know about the UK but we have building codes specifically for cladding, it is said (need an actual source though, the exact material hasn't been mentioned) that the cladding used is banned here in the USA.

The cladding was manufactured in the USA but that particular type was not supposed to be used for buildings over 10 meters.

The tories have, for some years now, been busily abolishing the 'red tape' that saves lives, since it mostly concerns only a lot of bloody poor people, who live only to be exploited. They will probably be forced to pretend to care for a year of two now.

I appreciate that .. but WTC 7 was not designed the way towers 1 and 2 were designed .. that's first. The design of Towers 1 and 2 was made to withstand multiple plane crashes with a strong and steel reinforced concrete inner core.

Secondly, universal uniform symmetrical collapse requires all supports to give way at the exact same moment regardless of building design. Falling mass will still seek the path of least resistance .. and as the building collapses, for every action there is an equal reaction .. thus the falling mass will collide with the greater mass and break up, making it even lighter mass.

Third, isolated furniture fires cannot melt buildings under any circumstances unless the building was made out of cheese. Even then, symmetrical collapse would not occur.

WTC 7 was a typical tall building in structure and design .. and it remains the smoking gun.

1. Plane crash, yes, multiple, not likely.
2. Since the dynamic load of a plane crash is in the horizontal direction, acting on what can be simplified as a cantilever beam anchored in the ground and pointing upward, the outer perimeter provided the resisting force, not the center core.
3. The center core was steel H sections, not reinforced concrete.
