    nope

The Second Law of thermodynamics only applies to closed systems. A living cell is not a closed system and it interacts with the environment constantly. The second law does not rule out the existence of a living organism

The fact that water erosion geomorophic features are observed on the surface of Mars corroborates this.

Look man, you wrote so many responses to me it filled up my notifications wall. That is actually a little creepy and I do not have the time or inclination to read your 30 responses to me, or whatever is is.

IMO, all one can do is be true to one's conscience. I do not play on message board teams when it comes to religion.

My two cents: there are not that many authentic Christians on this message board. Being an authentic Christian, Buddhist, or Muslim takes remarkable commitment and effort.

I rarely see that kind of commitment demostrated on message boards from most self-identified Christians. I periodically attend church myself, but I refrain from calling myself a devout, practicing Christian.

Digging on a hilltop in the Sahara Desert, scientists have found the most ancient known members of our own species, undermining longstanding ideas about the origins of humanity.

The newfound Homo sapiens fossils — three young adults, one adolescent and a child of 7 or 8 — date back roughly 300,000 years, says a study in this week’s Nature. The next-oldest fossils of Homo sapiens, the scientific name for humans, are about 200,000 years old.

The 200,000-year-old fossils were found in eastern Africa, sometimes called the “Garden of Eden” for its supposedly pivotal role as the birthplace of humanity. But the new fossils are from Morocco in far northern Africa, supporting the theory that the evolution of modern humans was a piecemeal affair that played out across the continent.

“There is no Garden of Eden in Africa,” said Jean-Jacques Hublin, co-author of two new studies describing the fossils and a paleontologist at Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. “Or if there is a Garden of Eden, it’s … the size of Africa.”

The new finds confirm “modern humans do not suddenly appear like the Big Bang, with all the bells and whistles that we associate with modern humans,” agrees paleoanthropologist Bernard Wood of George Washington University, who was not associated with the study.

Self-awareness is thinking "What will I have for dinner?" not "hungry. find food." A dog does not think about that asshole dog, Bob, down the street who is always shitting on his master's lawn. A dog does immediately react to the sight of Bob with anger.

A dog is pure zen. It lives each moment to moment but it's not self-aware. It simply lives the moment. If it's hungry it wants to eat. If cold it wants to be warm. It doesn't plan for winter or summer.

Agreed about being true to one's conscience. That goes hand-in-hand with trying to maximize one's knowledge on relevant topics concerning the nation. Religion in schools is one of those topics.

Faux science, pseudoscience, flying saucers and other bullshit being offered (e.g. Hydroxychloroquine) only muddy the waters and confuse the less intelligent members in the discussion.

One statement doesn't a good conclusion make but if a person pushes pseudoscience bullshit for months, do you think a conclusion can be drawn about that person by others on the forum?

I also think these days it is widely considered a mark of ignorance to deny evolution by natural selection.

25 years ago, a bible thumper could sort of get away with a strictly creation science posture.

These days, a creation scientist is laughed out of the room.

You can even see bible thumpers on this thead grudgingly accept the tenets of evolution, while still trying to inject providential design into it
