The White House Correspondents' Association dinner has been the biggest social event in Washington, D.C. for years -- but Saturday's event is expected to be lame compared
One of the main differences is that President Trump will not be present; he announced his decision in late February.
"I will not be attending the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!" he said in a tweet.
Instead, the president will travel to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to rally with supporters and members of his administration will also reportedly skip the annual event as a show of unity.

uring a Saturday night speech in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Donald Trump mocked the White House Correspondents Dinner, the yearly event that he skipped in order to hold a rally.
At the very beginning of his event, Trump said that there is currently a large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media who are consoling each other at a ballroom in the nation’s capitol
Trump went on to say that he’d much rather be with his supporters in Pennsylvania.
“I could not possibly be more thrilled than to be more than 100 miles away from Washington’s swamp, spending my evening with all of you, and with a much, much larger crowd, and much better people,” Trump said.
Trump went on to say that the correspondents dinner is probably going to be “very, very boring” but that “next year maybe we’ll make it more exciting for them,” suggesting he could show up next year.
The president spent the next several minutes railing against the media, grading them on their first 100 days and accusing them of unfair coverage.
The White House Correspondents Dinner is a yearly event in which journalists and politicians gather in Washington for a night of drinks and jokes. The president almost always attends, but Donald Trump opted out of it this year, saying that he was skipped it because the media does not cover him accurately.

good for him. the "press corps" /[treason forces] all have the death sentence. I think it would be funny as hell if the white house press room was made into a gas chamber and all of those bastard's final moments was broadcast live as they die.
Even so, Come, Lord JesusI do not participate in delusion count me out
For some people, it's drugs or booze. Others, sex or adrenaline.
For Trump, it's rallies.

Host blasts absent Trump at White House Correspondents' Dinner
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017...ts-dinner.html
Hasan Minhaj, of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” ended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night by blasting President Trump in a night that mostly focused on the First Amendment.
"We've got to address the elephant that's not in the room," Minhaj said. "The leader of our country is not here. And that's because he lives in Moscow. It's a very long flight. As for the other guy, I think he's in Pennsylvania because he can't take a joke."
Trump’s tweeting habits and his administration were not off limits in Minhaj’s final speech of the night.
“Jeff Sessions couldn’t be here tonight” Minhaj said. “He was busy doing a pre-Civil War re-enactment.”
Minhaj took a turn at lecturing journalists who were seated for the dinner and told them that “Donald Trump doesn’t care about free speech.”

Good for Trump. Going would have been no win. They are colossal bore anyway. Best spend time with the people who got you elected. The people who will criticize you for not going will criticize you anyway
They are just mad because not going removed a weapon from them.
