lol @ you telling me to read up on it.
That was the de-Baathification by Bush. you forgot the Awakening- that's when the army enjoyed relative popular support.

The Iraqi army was destroyed a 2nd time by al-Maliki's corruption, and his own stripping of the Sunni officer corps.

None of this has any real connection to Obama's inability to confront ISIS before it had those heavy weapons

I really don't care what you say. You've proven for ages now that you have permanent blinders on. You'd make a great propagandist, because you really believe what you say.

the entire country or a good 90% were for going into Iraq and verifying the mad man had no WMD's. mission accomplished, at great sacrifice, Obama has the blood of every soldier who gave their life and or limb in that war.
    he abandoned their sacrifice. PERIOD.
No way was 90% or more of the country in favor of going into Iraq.

A few years ago I read 'ISIS: Inside the Army of Terror' by Michael Weiss and Hassan Hassan, the story is so complex you'd need a road map. The Bush Cheney invasion of Iraq was the major factor in the creation of ISIS or ISIL or Daesh or ??? Republicans fail to acknowledge that as they have found most Americans are too busy and their dog whistle BS blaming Pres Obama works with their base.

"The book describes how ISIS emerged in the chaos of Iraq following the 2003 U.S. invasion, how the group was strengthened by the suppression of the Arab Spring and by the war in Syria, and how ISIS seized leadership of the jihadist movement from Al Qaeda."

'ISIS: A History' by Fawaz A. Gerges

^ it is very complex. Der Spiegel did a piece on Haji Bakr, and the structure of ISIS ,, It's a slog of a read but informative

for an easier understanding - WIKI has good enough profiles on the leadership of AQI and ISIS

You people are silly to not see that nothing has changed in that region in 1000 years. They did not gain or lose territory.
You are uninformed. ISIS did not take over for al-queda.
