damn ecclesiastes 3:19 might be my new favorite bible quote:

“Man’s fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.”

Judaism didn't have a particularly optimistic view of death. Sadducees didn't believe in an afterlife at all.

ThreeDee should kill himself and come back as a ghost to report on the experience. Then we'll know.

The Book of Enoch describes different levels of Hell, etc. Christ mentions the book, but the voters at the Council of Nicea ruled against adding it to the Bible.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    - -- Aristotle

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
    - -- The Buddha

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

And to think unrepentant leftists are tripping over themselves to get to a place like that. You go, goat worshippers, you go!

In my opinion the Bible is plain and it takes a lot of help to misunderstand it. The writer of this piece is trying hard to help in that regard.

Too bad, as well. Enoch is easily the most entertaining book of them all. I'd trade it for Revelations in a NY second!

Supposedly it's mentioned once in Genesis, and subsequently in an epistle, but, Christ might have spoken about themes originating in Enoch.
