On January 31st, 2016 Beefy took his own life.
Beefy, a former mod on this board, was an RL friend, I met him back in the p.com days when he lived in CO and we hung out a bit. He was a genuinely a great guy, a good friend to all, kind, interesting and interested in everybody. The man I met was an adventurer and lived to the fullest, and he will be missed... I do not know what took him down this path, or have much more information that I can give here. If you knew him, you liked him.
I hope he has found the peace he deserved.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

beefy was my bro for a long time, ever since politics.com. When SR punted me, beefy was on team grind. Then I became mod bros with him. I played poker with him online. He was always one of my favorites. I'm not going to get woe is me sentimental because at the end of the day I can't say I really knew him, but man am I bummed out at this. I talked to beefy A LOT. And I bring up death and suicide topics like every other day on here. sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yeah.

I live five miles up the highway from where Beefy used to sell hot tubs, before he moved to LA.
